24 year old Lizzie Velasquez was born with an extremely rare genetic syndrome that has (1) doesn’t allow her to gain weight, the most she’s ever weighed is 62 pounds (28kg) (2) causes her to age much more quickly than normal and (3) she’s blind in her right eye. When she was in high school, she found a video online that called her “the Ugliest woman in the world”. It had 4 million hits and people left comments like “do the world a favor and put a gun to your head”, “kill yourself”, “burn it with fire”.

Did Lizzie lay down and die? No!
Did she succumb to depression, hate or anger! No.
Instead she decided that she had a choice… We all do. We get to define ourselves.
She also decided to get grateful for what she has not obsessed with what she doesn’t.

– The symptoms of physical hunger happen below your head. e.g. your rumbling, growling tummy!
– Emotional hunger is in your head, in your thoughts, and in you have a feeling of it on your tongue… “I need to taste a bit of macaroni cheese / fried chicken / chocolate / cake!”

2) TIME
– Physical hunger builds up gradually but emotional hunger comes on so suddenly, it’s like you’ve been hit by a train and you NEED TO EAT RIGHT NOW!
– Physical hunger happens hours after you last ate but emotional hunger doesn’t give a damn.
YOU: “But I just ate half an hour ago.”
EMOTIONAL HUNGER: “So?”

3) WHEN IT GOES AWAY
– Physical hunger goes away when you’re full. You have a feeling of true satisfaction.
– Emotional hunger is never full. Even though your stomach may be bursting, even though you may feel uncomfortable even… YOU STILL WANT TO EAT. 2 SURPRISING, SEXY GIRL'S SECRET SLIM TIPS – HOW TO GO TO THE SUPERMARKET

LetHeadsTurnblackplussizemodel— 1) Girl! Go to the supermarket in your sexiest dress or your skinny jeans and heels. Really go there looking your most fabulous, lipstick and all. This’ll remind you who you are and what you’re going for and you’ll get WAAAY better treatment from the staff. Heck, if you’re single you might even meet a potential new dude (supermarkets can be great for that!) and if you’re not single you might get reminded that you’ve still got it baby heheheheheh.

It’s been said that weight loss is 80% diet and 20% exercise (obviously this varies from person to person – if you’re an Olympic swimmer consuming an extraordinary amount of calories in your regular daily life this really won’t apply!). The point is… If what you eat is crucial, then your weight loss lives or dies based on what you put in that shopping trolley. So who you’re being when you’re buying that food will be a big factor in determining who you’re going to be that week or that month. You can almost predict your fat or slim future by looking in that trolley.

— 2) And whatever you do, go to the supermarket with a full stomach. If you shop hungry you’ll buy more and you’ll buy different kinds of food too.
That said, don’t go shopping with an “I’m deprived” attitude. You can buy whatever you want, any sort of play food, just remember that you’re really looking to be eating cleanly and healthily – a nutrient dense diet – 75 to 90% of the time. So it’s not that you “can’t have a donut”, it’s that you’re not living on donuts! Heck this is for your health not just weight loss – you’ll live longer, look younger, have more energy, go to the bathroom more regularly (LOL), feel sexier, have better skin and hair… The list goes on! And you’ll be slimmer.

Love yourself today – whether or not you’ve got weight to lose. You are more than fat or thin. You are you. I saw that when I looked at my ‘before’ pictures recently. It took love for me to transform myself and I had to love myself before any change was possible. The egg had to come before the chicken (not sure about that metaphor girl but you know what I mean!). Hating yourself because you’ve got weight to lose doesn’t help you lose the weight. But loving yourself makes anything possible because you know you’re worth it.

I’m sorry that my stomach isn’t flat and tight. I’m sorry that my belly is covered in stretch marks…”

Tanis Jex-Blake was on the beach with two of her kids when a group of people approached her – they laughed at her, teased her and even pretended to kick her…  She pretended to them that she didn’t mind but inside it was a totally different story.  She cried in the car on the drive home.

— WHEN HAVE *YOU* FELT LIKE CRYING OVER THE WAY OTHERS REACTED TO THE WAY YOUR BODY LOOKED?

Something I (Kara) remember:  I was at a wedding of some university friends.  I had gained a lot of weight since everybody had seen me last. I was in a nice looking purple, elastic waist band outfit (it’s not sounding so nice now! Purple… Elastic waist band…) and this really cute guy I’d met before just plain didn’t recognize me.  And my other friend (a guy) said, “She’s gotten really f…” he started the word but he didn’t finish it.  But we all got what he meant.  Kara Miller was so fat that she was unrecognizable.  Ouch.

Truth is, I was in denial, I’d gained a lot of weight, my energy levels were low, I was having real trouble finding cute clothes that fit me (hence the elastic waist band!) and yet I didn’t think there was a problem.  In fact, years passed after that incident (I had trouble breathing, my knees hurt, I was tired all the time and more) before I even did anything about my health.  For ages, I genuinely believed my clothes were just shrinking in the wash…  Denial (De Nile) ain’t just a river in Egypt LOL!

“This is an open letter to the 2 guys and 1 girl who decided to skip work today in Sherwood Park where they were building a house , but instead decided to come to Alberta Beach to relax in the sun, enjoy the water and some beers.
I’m sorry if my first attempt at sun tanning in a bikini in public in 13 years “grossed you out”. I’m sorry that my stomach isn’t flat and tight. I’m sorry that my belly is covered in stretch marks. I’m NOT sorry that my body has housed, grown, protected, birthed and nurtured FIVE fabulous, healthy, intelligent and wonderful human beings. I’m sorry if my 33 year old, 125 lb body offended you so much that you felt that pointing, laughing, and pretending to kick me. But I’ll have you know that as I looked at your ‘perfect’ young bodies, I could only think to myself “what great and amazing feat has YOUR body done?”. I’ll also have you know that I held my head high, unflinching as you mocked me, pretending that what you said and did had no effect on me; but I cried in the car on the drive home. Thanks for ruining my day. It’s people like you who make this world an ugly hateful place. I can’t help but feel sorry for the women who will one day bear your children and become “gross” in your eyes as their bodies change during the miraculous process of pregnancy. I can only hope that one day you’ll realize that my battle scars are something to be proud of, not ashamed of.”
