ANOTHER WAY STRESS MAKES US FAT… IT ACTUALLY MAKES JUNK FOOD TASTE BETTER! #ScientificStudy
A recent clinical study at Hacettepe University in Turkey took groups of participants and tested how they related to sweet and salty foods normally.
Then the scientists gave the test subjects challenging mental tests in which the scientists used several methods to increase the participants’ stress levels. The scientists used increased heart rate and blood pressure as a way of measuring how truly stressed the participants were and then they fed them again…
This time, the subjects related completely differently to the sweet and salty foods! The study discovered that there is a distinct relationship between our perception of taste and our anxiety levels… The bottom line is the scientists found that, WHEN WE ARE STRESSED, SWEET AND SALTY FOOD TASTE BETTER to us. The stress makes these taste even more appealing than normally and so it’s no wonder that when we’re stressed, we want to eat JUNK FOOD that’s mucho salty and mucho sweet. And, not only are we drawn to different food… because it tastes so much better to us (‘sexy salt’, ‘yummy sugar’ :-(, WE WANT TO EAT MORE OF IT!
Jeez Louise! The only way to beat this is to let the air out of the balloon of your stress…
Here’s one way:
Go to www.TheLifestylista.com and search for “FEELING STRESSED AND WANT TO OVEREAT” – there’s a GREAT BREATHING TECHNIQUE in this article that fights stress and cravings… Just try it! It works.
I love you and I’m here rooting for you,

My secret confession! The excuses I used to tell myself…
“He didn’t seem to realize that three excuses were as good as no excuse…” WHAT ARE THE EXC– — USES YOU TELL YOURSELF for not transforming your health? SHARE BELOW! My excuses were:
1) I need to wealthy to be slim – personal chef, menus planned by others etc
2) my genetics – everyone in my family is big (the women at least)
3) maybe I have a slow thyroid… (I didn’t even get it checked by a doctor I just added it to my excuse bank!)
4) I don’t have the time to get healthy -“I mean you have to research, learn new things. Too complicated and time consuming…”
5) secret excuse: if I change the way I live (and the way i look) I will be the odd one out with my friends and they won’t like me anymore
6) another secret excuse: being big is who I am. My identity. Who will I be if I am slim? It’s just “not me”.
7) I assumed the only way to be slim for life was to live a life of sacrifice and deprivation. Now I know the opposite is true!

WANT TO LOSE WEIGHT? Clear up any cheating, lying, broken promises…
WANT TO LOSE WEIGHT? Clear up any cheating, lying, broken promises… Vote ‘YES’ or ‘NO’ & COMMENT BELOW! Girl! If you want to transform your life – healthy eating (what you eat and how you eat), get fit and release those pounds… you need to be able to trust yourself AND know that you’re worth it. And that’s not going to happen unless you do a SPRING CLEAN OF YOUR INTEGRITY!
What do I mean by that?
1) PROMISES TO OTHERS
Have you told someone you were going to do something and then just plain not done it? AND then, to make matters worse, just not ever discussed it?
Then this is something to clear up. Just go to them, acknowledge that you didn’t do what you said you were going to do. Then either re-commit to do the agreed task OR tell them point blank that you’re sorry for misleading them but you really have no intention of doing the thing you promised.
Either way you’ve cleared it up and that ‘promised thing’ is not there lingering in the background informing your perception of who you are around promises.
2) PROMISES TO YOURSELF
Girl, now you know these are the ones you’ve broken the most.
Here are just a few examples to get you thinking… How many times have you promised that this week, this month, this year you were going to start something for yourself but you didn’t follow through?
– Get more sleep [LIFESTYLISTA: my number one vice!]
– Truly sort out and clean up my room / wardrobe / desk / garage you name it.
– Start to eat more healthily and lose weight
– Get fit – start exercising or start doing better quality exercise
– Spend more quality time with the people you love
– Spend more time with people who nurture you and less time with people who don’t
– Internet dating (if you’re single) or date nights (if you’re not)
– Take up that hobby you’ve been dreaming of
– Get a makeover, refresh your look
– Get a few pieces of clothing you LOVE
and the list goes on!
Sometimes it’s hard to keep a promise to yourself because there’s no real accountability, no one’s chasing you! BUT every time you break a commitment to yourself, every time you don’t do what you said you do, you start to trust yourself less and you stop believing that transformation is possible (“Who am I fooling?”, “I can’t really do that”, “I always give up”, “I know I’ll never follow through” etc.)
How can you trust yourself when you say you’re going to change your life???
Well start today! Make a small promise to yourself AND SHARE IT WITH YOUR LIFESTYLISTA FAMILY! Do something today just for yourself – and make sure you keep your promise. WHEN YOU’VE FOLLOWED THROUGH LET US KNOW, POST ON THE FACEBOOK WALL www.facebook.com/Lifestylista AND SHARE IT WITH THE COMMUNITY (OR SEND ME A MESSAGE IF YOU’RE FEELING SHY)!
I love you and you are worth it.
I’m here rooting for you.
love

YOU HURT YOURSELF (& others) WHEN YOU CAN’T TAKE A COMPLIMENT… “‘If You’re Fat, Then I’m Humongous!’: Frequency, Content and Impact of Fat Talk”
VOTE “yes” or “no” below! YOU HURT YOURSELF (& others) WHEN YOU CAN’T TAKE A COMPLIMENT… Have you ever been “guilty” of this? Be honest girl 🙂
THEM: Hey [Name] you look gorgeous! Oh my goodness that dress is beautiful.
US: This thing? I got it at [Shop name] on sale for $3. It’s a stupid dress and I had to safety pin the hem… See?
Them: Ahm, well you look good in it. And your sandals look so good.
US: Hmmmm – you obviously haven’t noticed the hard skin on my feet, it’s like stone.
Them: Well, you look great anyway.
US: My stomach’s bloated at the moment.
THEM: OK.
And then they give up.
— Maybe this example is extreme but have you ever said any of these types of things???
Someone says something nice to you about the way you look and instead of just saying a gracious ‘thank you’ like a sane human being… you bat their compliment away by making a list of what you think could be wrong with you.
Many of us feel uncomfortable when someone says something wonderful about our appearance, maybe we feel we don’t deserve it BUT what we don’t realize is that if we keep doing that, we’ll be chipping away at our self esteem… It’s toxic!
— A study published in ‘Psychology of Women Quarterly’ (Title: “‘If You’re Fat, Then I’m Humongous!’: Frequency, Content and Impact of Fat Talk”) found that “Fat talk (women speaking negatively about the size and shape of their bodies) is a phenomenon that both reflects and creates body dissatisfaction.”
So it’s a vicious cycle… If you keep going on (even just to yourself), about how much you don’t like your appearance, everything gets worse!
And if you can accept compliments and say nice things to yourself (find nice things to say!), accepting and loving yourself where you are right now, you can avoid a whole load of heartache (including, according to studies, depression!).
AND
— Think of the poor person that complimented you!!! They put themselves on the line to honestly say something nice about you and because of your $%&*ed up view of yourself, you act like what they are saying is nothing, just garbage! You have rejected them bigtime. Get a grip girl! Let’s do better. The next person that says something nice to you… Just reply, “Thank you. I really appreciate it. That makes me feel great!” and leave it at that before I have to come over to where you are and give you a piece of my mind in person 🙂 LOL.
Now, in the comments box below, please tell me 3 to 6 things that are GREAT about yourself! Don’t hold back.
Here are my 6 things:
1) “I love the way my behind jiggles when I walk…” LOL
2) “My skin is beautiful.”
3) “My teeth aren’t perfect but they’re mine and I like them! They suit my face. Tooth chips and all 🙂 ”
4) “I am loving. I care about people.”
5) “I love dancing to soca music. Carnival. In the sunshine and with a smile on my face!”
6) “I’ve discovered I don’t have to perfect anymore and so I have a lot more fun and I’m much more honest with people. It feels good – makes me feel like dancing! Heh heh!!!”
I love you and I’m here rooting for you.
