COMMENT BELOW – VOTE ‘yes’ or ‘no’ or write more… Gabourey Sidibe, Oscar Nominated (‘Precious’) actress speaks frankly about her weight. “I didn’t really get to grow up hearing that I was beautiful a lot, or that I was worth anything nor did I grow up seeing myself on TV. Then at some point when I was 21 or 22 I just decided that life wasn’t worth living if I wasn’t happy with myself so I just took all the steps that I could to figure out how to love myself and become confident.

Truthfully speaking if I hadn’t found this person before that movie (‘Precious’ from the novel ‘Push’) I wouldn’t have even be in that movie.” Let’s feel better about ourselves this Christmas season 🙂 Be kind to yourself and to other people too.

Gabby also gives an insight into how other people’s curiosity and perceptions about her weight affect her…

“People see me as a confident person but I get shaken a lot, especially being in this business. A few weeks ago I was on vacation and I went into a CVS pharmacy and as I’m paying I see a picture of myself on the cover of a magazine and they’re guesstimating what my weight is? The headline was ‘Gabourey Sidibe 250 lbs.”

It’s obviously tough for Gabby sometimes, especially working as an actress in Hollywood where there aren’t that many big, big girls working as actresses. How does she keep keeping on?

“I have to keep going and living my life, so when things like that upset me I have to find things that build my confidence back up. Because I don’t want to wait for work I want to make work.”

A step too far for beauty OR a good, bold move? Dimple surgery…

Cherelle starred in the British documentary, ‘Bodyshockers: My Piercing Hell’. She always wanted dimples just like her celebrity idol Cheryl Cole… so she got surgery to get them. The doctor punched a hole into her cheeks using a scalpel and then used stitches to create her dream dimples.

How did Cherelle get the idea?: “I was online with my friend and we were basically having a joke about what procedures you could and couldn’t do. I was like wow, I didn’t know you could do your dimples!”

When Cherelle first did the operation, the dimples were so deep she was a bit worried but after a few days they settled down and she loves them. They’re like she was born with them!

Bikini Body Gal ™ Challenge Day 1

Hey!!! Hope you’re having an amazing day! I’ve got something to share with you… I have entered a national FITNESS BIKINI COMPETITION that’s happening ON STAGE in a huge auditorium on November 8th! Oh my goodness! It’s in 11 weeks. I’m petrified and excited! Mostly excited 🙂 And petrified LOL! BIKINI BODY GAL ™ FITNESS CHALLENGE: I’m someone who hates being scantily clad in public. My crutch, my safety net, is always a pair of tights (pantyhose)! I’m even wearing tights when I wear my the carnival costume Though I’m slim now I think some part of myself doesn’t see me as an athlete… As someone who could / should / would ever even try for a world class athletic body!!!
e.g. “It’s over for me, my best days are behind me!”: recently I noticed that my behind had fallen (no other way of describing it!), it’s started a journey South and I thought well that’s just nature / age / the way things are, live with it! Then I realized it doesn’t have to be this way 🙂 How about instead of it being “too late”, I go for it, go for having the best body of my life right now! This is not about my size, it’s about my state of my mind, the way I see myself! Can I WOW myself & feel proud?)
