Idris is usually extremely private but he shared with GQ magazine about a hugely painful part of his life.  He spoke about the awful moment when he discovered that he wasn’t the biological father of the child he knew as his son.

“The celebration of having a son, from a man’s perspective, it’s massive,” said Idris Elba about 2010 news reports that he was gushing about a beautiful baby boy, his son, with his ex-girlfriend, Desiree Newberry, in Florida.    According to news reports, Idris met “Dezi” when she was a stripper at Atlanta’s infamous Magic City strip club.  When she became pregnant, Idris moved his then girlfriend into his house in Miami so he could take better care of her.

A friend of his girlfriend, told him something wasn’t right… “It wasn’t immediately obvious.   Well, it was, because he didn’t look like me. But it wasn’t immediately obvious what had gone down.”

Idris did a paternity test and his worst fears were confirmed. “To be given that and then have it taken away so harshly,” he says, “was like taking a full-on punch in the face: POW.”

He described the experience as “extremely freeing”.  “You know, the truth is — like, even admitting it, I’ll probably get laughed at for the rest of my life. But it is just tragic, and it happened.  But I wasn’t knocked out. I stood right … back up, and I ain’t aiming to take another punch in the face ever again. Do you understand what I’m saying? It happened to me. I moved on.”

Shortly after his secret bad news, Essence magazine asked Idris about how his first child, his daughter with his ex-wife felt about her new status as a big sister. All Idris had to say was, “I only have a daughter.”

“I’ve not been an angel in my life, either — do you know what I’m saying? So to a certain extent, what goes around comes around. But for me in the future, I’m about being comfortable. That’s it.  Now that I’ve achieved some of the things that I’ve wanted to achieve, I’m not going to be a slave to it all of a sudden. I respect the artist that lives that way. The people that just go, ‘You’re going to hate me for what I just did, or you’re not going to understand why I made that film or that record or whatever, but what you are watching is someone that’s living their life.’ You know: I’m not watching you; you’re watching me.”

This story has a happy ending… for Idris!  He’s together with a lovely new lady (his make-up artist girlfriend Naiyana Garth) and they have a lovely baby son called Winston.

While Idris’ unfaithful ex-girlfriend, Desiree Newberry, has gone back to stripping for a living.  I feel sorry for her too, somehow.  What think you?

“Dear Cutie-Pie,
Recently, your mother and I were searching for an answer on Google. Halfway through entering the question, Google returned a list of the most popular searches in the world. Perched at the top of the list was “How to keep him interested.”

It startled me. I scanned several of the countless articles about how to be sexy and sexual, when to bring him a beer versus a sandwich, and the ways to make him feel smart and superior.

And I got angry.

Little One, it is not, has never been, and never will be your job to “keep him interested.”

Little One, your only task is to know deeply in your soul—in that unshakeable place that isn’t rattled by rejection and loss and ego—that you are worthy of interest. (If you can remember that everyone else is worthy of interest also, the battle of your life will be mostly won. But that is a letter for another day.)

If you can trust your worth in this way, you will be attractive in the most important sense of the word: you will attract a boy who is both capable of interest and who wants to spend his one life investing all of his interest in you.

Little One, I want to tell you about the boy who doesn’t need to be kept interested, because he knows you are interesting:

I don’t care if he puts his elbows on the dinner table—as long as he puts his eyes on the way your nose scrunches when you smile. And then can’t stop looking.

I don’t care if he can’t play a bit of golf with me—as long as he can play with the children you give him and revel in all the glorious and frustrating ways they are just like you.

I don’t care if he doesn’t follow his wallet—as long as he follows his heart and it always leads him back to you.

I don’t care if he is strong—as long as he gives you the space to exercise the strength that is in your heart.

I couldn’t care less how he votes—as long as he wakes up every morning and daily elects you to a place of honor in your home and a place of reverence in his heart.

I don’t care about the color of his skin—as long as he paints the canvas of your lives with brushstrokes of patience, and sacrifice, and vulnerability, and tenderness.

I don’t care if he was raised in this religion or that religion or no religion—as long as he was raised to value the sacred and to know every moment of life, and every moment of life with you, is deeply sacred.

In the end, Little One, if you stumble across a man like that and he and I have nothing else in common, we will have the most important thing in common:

You.

Because in the end, Little One, the only thing you should have to do to “keep him interested” is to be you.

WHAT do YOU think? “OMG: Woman Gets PUNCHED IN THE FACE On Live TV & Everyone Just Seems Cool With It!”.  Can this ever be right – no matter what the provocation? There’s a Russian TV show where the person who keeps their hands on the car longest wins the car.  This girl was (as part of the game) annoying the guy beside her so he’d leave the car and lose the game.  He snapped, hit her and then the other 3 women in the game BLAMED THE GIRL WHO WAS HIT…  I know every culture has their own norms about this issue but what do you think?

TOO SAD TO WATCH. Police Release Video of 12 YEAR OLD Being SHOT by Rookie Cop within “one-and-a-half to two seconds” of the police confronting him.

TOO SAD TO WATCH.  What do you think?  Police Release Video of 12 YEAR OLD Being SHOT by Rookie Cop within “one-and-a-half to two seconds” of the police confronting him. Watch bored little Tamar Rice in the Cudell Commons Park holding an airsoft pellet gun & playing by himself for ages.  He does that “cops and robbers” POW POW and at one point he even looks like he’s making and throwing a snowball…  Awwww.

The police were called and the caller told the operator twice that the gun was “probably fake” (this info wasn’t passed on to the on duty cops).

In the video, you can see Tamar Rice standing beside a gazebo when the police car suddenly arrives, driving right across the grass to reach him.   The rookie officer jumped out, gun drawn, and shot the boy “within 1 1/2 – 2 seconds” (Deputy Police Chief Edward Tomba admitted this and the video shows this).  2 seconds, despite the fact that the rookie later claimed that he had had time (while driving up) to ask the little boy to put his hands up THREE TIMES!  How is that even possible??!  And they admit they did not use a megaphone.

“Shots fired, male down, black male, maybe 20,” said the policeman who called in the incident.  Tamar Rice died the next day of his injuries.

It’s so funny about perception… This 12 year old with the baby face wasn’t 20 and he wasn’t a gunman and now he’s dead.  Sad.  I don’t really now what to say.  WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS?

SO 🙁 VERY SAD – WHAT DO YOU THINK?  Young BOY WANTS TO DIE because of BULLIES AT SCHOOL!  “I just don’t want to be in this world if somebody don’t want to be my friend.”  Sometimes we forget what it was like to be a kid.  And we also forget the isolation and the pain a bullied kid feels.   As this little boy explains that his Mom will be SAD that he really does want to die but he can’t help it… is heartbreaking.  He says he’s got no one on his side and no one who wants to be his friend and they pick on him everyday.  Hearing his Aunt’s voice cracking as she films him is damned painful.
