DAY 6: Oprah & Deepak’s 21-day meditation challenge! ““If you want to recreate the world, look at it with fresh eyes.” COMMENT BELOW… WHAT / WHO COULD YOU CHANGE IN YOUR LIFE BY LOOKING AT THEM IN A DIFFERENT WAY? SHARE!

Mindful moment homework: “Today have the intention to see one thing as if for the first time. Look without the camouflage of your memories.”
— I’ve been having secret thoughts of “who am I to do X or Y?” and it’s been holding me back and stopping me from making the difference to myself and others that I know I am here to make.  Last night, I saw it in a new way. Things I saw as a ‘problem’ before (oh no – how will I do this or that?) have become a ‘challenge’ (yay – I’m going to get to see how I can achieve that – it’s exciting).  The world looks different today because I’m seeing it differently and myself differently within it!  WOW.  I just recreated the world by looking at it with fresh eyes.
Today’s main message was cherishing the beauty in yourself and others:
– “The privilege of a lifetime is being who YOU are.”
– “You are a unique expression of everything in existence, and you shine with the beauty of a million stars.”
– “Through the eyes of your true self, take a few moments to consider how truly magnificent you really are.”
For me, this has meant a shedding of my ‘outside skin’, my wanting to please, my being mortified if I get it wrong in someone else’s eyes or my own.  I am unique – and if I get it ‘wrong’ or ‘right’, I’m getting it wrong or right in my own unique way!  There’s a magic in being myself because I’m really the only one who can do it!

Miraculous Magnificence

Today’s message and meditation celebrate the magnificence of your radiant, joyful spirit. If you could see your body as a physicist can see it, you would observe atoms or particles moving at lightning speed around vast, empty spaces. These particles aren’t material objects at all. They are fluctuations of energy and information in a huge empty space. And what is this space? It is the womb of creation, the field of all possibilities. It is the same place that nature goes to fashion a galaxy and to fashion a thought.
This field of pure potentiality is within you. It is your inner space that gives rise with amazing fertility to all of the divine qualities of the universe, including love, grace, abundance, joy, creativity, and freedom. You are a unique expression of everything in existence, and you shine with the beauty of a million stars.
Mindful Moment
There is a beautiful saying in India’s ancient Vedic tradition: “If you want to recreate the world, look at it with fresh eyes.” Today have the intention to see one thing as if for the first time. Look without the camouflage of your memories. Sometimes the hardest thing is to truly see someone we have known for a long time, such as our partner, child, or friend. We assume we know who they are, and so we stop seeing. It is also important to look at yourself as though doing so for the first time. We may assume that we know ourselves, but as we are discovering, who we are is much more than our limited ego-mind can envision. Through the eyes of your true self, take a few moments to consider how truly magnificent you really are.

DAY 5: Oprah & Deepak’s 21-day meditation challenge! “See yourself as you are: completely loved and completely lovable…” COMMENT BELOW… DO YOU EVER HAVE DIFFICULTY LOVING YOURSELF NO MATTER WHAT YOU’VE DONE / NOT DONE? SHARE!

— WOW we have been conditioned to love ourselves when we do well and hate ourselves a little when we “don’t do well” (according to standards we learned from society, family, friends etc.).
Examples of “not doing well”
– being too fat / too thin
– being too poor (or too rich!)
– being too loud and enthusiastic (being too quiet & shy)
– being too much of a dreamer (being too sensible / not having dreams)
– being too outspoken (not never saying what you truly feel)
It’s almost impossible to win.  On any given day, you will almost certainly fail by society’s standards.  Does that mean we have to hate ourselves or love ourselves any less?!  That’s what happens when we do all our living “on the outside”.  We need to be firmly rooted from within so no matter what people think, no matter what’s happening in our lives, we know we are worthwhile and worthy of love.
I’m on a journey with this.  I know I am made in God’s image, I’m a perfect divine creation BUT I still get all het up and self GRRR-ing if I make a mistake or I don’t achieve what I want to in a given day.

“When you feel out of balance, anxious, or alone, pause for a moment and take a deep breath.”
This is so simple and so powerful!  Oh my goodness.  Such peace… Try it!

Miraculous Esteem

Today we have a new opportunity to cleanse the lens of perception and see ourselves as we really are: completely loved and completely lovable.
Despite what you may have been conditioned to believe, there is nothing that you have to do or achieve to be worthy of love. Your true self is pure love and you are already infinitely precious exactly as you are. This awareness of who you really are connects you to your true self-esteem. This esteem is solid and unwavering. Your soul loves you unconditionally. The approval rating of your ego, in contrast, is fickle and forever shifting. Your ego may approve of your performance one day and then the next day judge you as inadequate or lacking. As we shift from identifying with our ego’s insecurities and fears, we open to the gifts of the soul. It all begins with self-awareness. Each day as we spend time in the inner quiet of meditation, our awareness will expand and awaken us to love.
Mindful Moment
Make it your practice for today to cultivate self-awareness and self-love. No matter how much you have suffered, your soul sees you as whole. When you feel out of balance, anxious, or alone, pause for a moment and take a deep breath. In the quiet moment of a pause you can assess the gentle refuge of your heart. Take a few moments to close your eyes and sit quietly, feeling your heart as a soft, warm enclosure. Let your attention settle there and rest as long as you wish.

“The flow of love in our lives depends upon OUR ABILITY TO RECEIVE AND CARE FOR OURSELVES…”
— Boy oh boy I am guilty of this one!
1) Putting myself first, caring for myself… sometimes I really don’t do this enough.
2) Receiving from others: I not only forget that we do need to take care of ourselves first sometimes, I also forget that it’s actually a gift to let someone else contribute to you.  When you always give to someone else but never accept or receive from them… it’s not generosity, it’s selfishness (on some level) – you are robbing them of the joy of giving!  When I think of it this way, it makes me take a step back and start to rethink some things. AND I need the help, I can’t do everything on my own.  So I love what Oprah and Deepak said about giving and receiving being part of the flow of energy in the universe, like breathing in and breathing out!  There’s nothing wrong if I say ‘yes’ to help.  I won’t be ‘indebted’, I’m not ‘scrounging’ and it’s not ‘wrong to accept help’.
— Today’s mindful moment homework:
“Today, begin a practice of daily self-care. Begin by making a list of the loving things you can do for yourself this week—then set the intention to complete one of the items on your list every day.”
Here’s my personal list:
1)  Go to sleep early one day this week at 10pm! (this would be huge for me)
2)  Go to my favorite Jamaican restaurant in LA to eat Yam, beans, greens and sweet, sweet coconut drops like I did as a child.
3)  Dedicate one evening to my hubby and not to the computer!
4) Take a few deep breaths every time I start a new task.
5) Have fun dance break at least twice a day!
6) Put these as post-its on my computer so I remember to do them 🙂

Many of us were taught that it is better to give than to receive. We easily give our time, energy, and attention to our family and friends, yet we may find it difficult to receive these same things. In reality, giving and receiving are different aspects of the same flow of energy in the universe. Just as every exhalation depends upon an inhalation, the flow of love in our lives depends upon our ability to receive and to care for ourselves. As we meditate today, hold yourself in loving awareness and let your heart receive.
Mindful Moment
Today, begin a practice of daily self-care. Begin by making a list of the loving things you can do for yourself this week—then set the intention to complete one of the items on your list every day. Consider posting the list somewhere prominent or maybe schedule a daily reminder on your phone or computer. Here are a few suggestions: write down one quality you love about yourself, remember to pause and take a few deep breaths when you’re feeling stressed, take a walk or enjoy a good meal with a friend rather than grabbing a sandwich at your desk. As you give freely to yourself you’ll experience the loving awareness that is your natural state.

— Heck, I’ll be honest with you. You’re my Lifestylista sister… When I was at university I told my mother that I was worried that if I didn’t achieve, I wouldn’t be loved. She said to me that there is nothing I could achieve that could be as big as I am, as worth of love as I am.
I HAVE FORGOTTEN THIS MANY TIMES – LOL! I have gotten my ego caught up in ‘doing well’, ‘being good’, ‘being right’, ‘being acceptable in other people’s eyes’ so I could be loved.
I judge myself harshly sometimes because, right now, it’s just me doing everything on Lifestylista (editing, website stuff, creating content) and I would love to be quicker at getting you some of the exciting things you’re going to have! The giveaways – I can’t wait for them to start (I’ve got some great products to give away already, right now I’m just working on the technical specifics of running a giveaway especially with so many of you in so many different countries), the weight loss course with clear, specific strategies to help you lose the weight and keep it while having fun, loving yourself and NOT going on a diet etc..
They are all taking time because, as they say in Jamaica, “is just me one!” and I want you to have the best!
The biggest area where I need to let go and accept myself is that I can no longer reply to every single message individually. If I did that, I wouldn’t be able to work on the other stuff I want to get to you. I say that but every single message is precious to me so you get how I’ve been feeling!!! I love you, you have been adding to my life with every share, every like, every comment – you sharing yourself – and I plan to add to yours
When I did today’s meditation and I did the mirror exercise… looking into the mirror and silently repeating these words three times: “I see you, I accept you, I love you.” It was so simple and so beautiful. I’ve said to some of you to look in the mirror and say “I accept you and I love you.” BUT this Deepak Chopra / Oprah Winfrey addition of “I see you” just made all the difference. It landed in an even more deep way.
I AM WORTHY OF LOVE NO MATTER WHAT I DO OR DON’T DO, NOT MATTER WHAT I ACHIEVE, WHAT I GIVE…

Yesterday we began to explore the difference between our true self, which is the source of all our love and happiness, and our learned self or ego, which is the source of our fear and suffering. Although the ego has a difficult reputation, our intention isn’t to judge it or attempt to get rid of it because such efforts only intensify the drama of the ego and the struggle in our lives. Instead, we want to focus on embracing all aspects of our self, letting the healing that comes with self-acceptance work miracles in our lives.
Today we will begin to let go of self-judgment as we experience the wholeness and truth of our essential nature. We will open our hearts to ourselves and let ourselves feel the love that has been there all along.
Mindful Moment
Begin today by putting your attention on your heart. Take time to connect with and feel how much your soul wants you to know that you are loved and appreciated. Look into your own eyes and see your timelessness. See everything—the joy, sadness, compassion, playfulness, and wisdom. You contain everything. You are whole. Each time you find yourself in front of a mirror today take a moment to witness yourself. As you look deeply into your own eyes, hold all aspects of yourself in loving awareness, silently repeat these words three times, “I see you, I accept you, I love you.” Carry this practice through your day and witness your heart gently open to yourself and others.
